"Silverback" Sheepskin Rug, Naturally-Tanned

$290.00

This silverback sheepskin is breathtaking. Rugged (pun intended, obviously) but suave, cozy but elegant. And how can something look mostly black and mostly white all at the same time? There's a metaphor in there somewhere...This is a special and unique hide, with thick, soft wool.

These hides are vegetable tanned by the amazing folks at Living Sky Tannery in Idaho, using gentle and environmentally friendly practices. They're 100% grassfed and finished, locally-raised (by me!) and locally-tanned without the use of harsh chemicals. I especially love to give them as extra-special baby gifts and wedding gifts.

I know every one of my sheep. It's not easy to raise them for meat, and I always feel grief and immense gratitude when they're processed. To me, preserving their hides is the ultimate way to honor the whole life of each unique individual animal. Thank you for being a part of that.
